A Day of Food | September 2016

If you didn’t already notice, I took Monday off to relax and spend time with family. It was so fun and much needed, but I’m happy to be back sharing tasty things with you!

When I first transitioned the focus of Noodoso, I asked what you would like to see here. One of the things mentioned was a look into my day (of food). A lovely reader named India was curious about what I eat in a day, and since I wonder that about other people all the time, I thought there may be other people that would be interested in seeing a post on it!

A Day of Food - Noodoso

As most of you know, I eat gluten and dairy/egg free. Not by choice because who doesn’t love a nice fresh piece of french bread smothered in butter. I know I do! Unfortunately, my body doesn’t agree.

Now, a few notes: I tend to eat a lot. More than the average person of my stature. My food also isn’t very fancy or intricate. I tend to go for convenience and taste over fancy dishes with a ton of special ingredients. I know many of you can probably relate to that.

At this point I think I’m just giving unnecessary warnings because I’m actually slightly nervous to share my food habits. It’s a much more personal thing than I ever realized!

This is just an average day of food during the week, no weekend eating out or cocktails with dinner (usually.) Okay, here it goes:

Breakfast
1/2 Gluten Free Everything Bagel, Toasted with Dairy Free Cream Cheese
Chia Seed Pudding with Pistachios and Strawberries
Cold Brew Coffee

Snack
Veggie Chips
Celery and Hummus or Almond Butter

Lunch
Salad
Veggie Spring Rolls

Snack
Lentil Chips
Olives (or another veggie)

Dinner
Varies. A few of my favorite quick and easy weeknight dinners are are Tacos, Veggie Stir Fry, or Skirt Steak and Veggies.

Dessert/Snack
1 Piece of Dark Chocolate or Fruit

I’m a complete sucker for lentil chips. Holy moly. Cody has to take the bag away from me or I will eat the entire thing! And if you’re looking for a vegan cream cheese, Kite Hill is the ABSOLUTE BEST. Once you try it you will want to eat the entire thing with a spoon. Seriously. (Not that I’ve ever done that though. Maybe just 1 spoonful. Oops!)

Another secret about me – I actually don’t have very much of a sweet tooth. Unlike most people, I crave veggies not ice cream. So eating veggies for most meals is not only easy for me, but something that throws me completely off if I don’t do it! Also, just because I eat pretty healthy and clean doesn’t mean I don’t have off days or days that I just crave unhealthy food. I think everyone does. The trick is just moderation, knowing where your food came from and how it was prepared, and sticking as close to healthy even on those unhealthy days as you can. The farther away from it you get, the harder it is to get back on track.

  • Thanks so much for actually posting this! Your meals seem healthy and also tasty. I love veggie spring rolls. I wish i was the type of person who craved veggies regularly. I love broccoli, but I’m ALWAYS craving carbs. I know my body is probably just addicted to that sugar, and it’s a habit I’m really trying to break! Thanks again! <3
