I’ll be completely honest, I really dislike wrapping presents, always have. I get as far as placing the gift on the wrapping paper and I’m completely over it. I always see these beautifully wrapped gifts and I’m like 😍, but when i go to wrap mine they look like I pulled them out of the garbage can. (Mainly because I put in zero effort.)
This year, I wanted to change that. I kept it simple because overdoing it will almost always lead to frustration (for me, at least), and I started wrapping early so I could do one or two per day without getting overwhelmed.
I also have a tendency to have terribly luck when wrapping – I’ll get to the end and the paper will get a massive unfixable rip across it, or something dramatic like that.
This year, I was extra careful about that type of thing happening and I tried a few new wrapping techniques.
I created a hand-stitched envelope, which I’m in love with. This could easily be done with a sewing machine, and I actually made a few extras that way, but this was for my mom’s present and I wanted it to be a little extra special. I slipped her gift inside, sealed it with a piece of washi tape, and added a piece of twine to hold the tag. I used my Silhouette Portrait to cut my tags and a few other decorative wrapping elements. If you have a crafty person in your life, a Silhouette machine makes a PERFECT gift!
For another gift, I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Black to add a little something to the kraft wrapping paper, then added a few other little elements using my favorite metallic markers, and finished it off with a piece of twine.
If you’re not a fan of wrapping (like me), or even if you are, I hope this gave you a few wrapping ideas! Tell me in the comments below what your favorite simple wrapping techniques are!
